Natalie Agee is a performer of most everything, from modern dance to hula hoop acts, singing in stairwells to chinese pole circus tricks on lampposts. She has worked, nationally, with many independent choreographers. A founding member of Obie and Bessie Award-winning "LAVA", she taught and performed with the company from 1997 to 2006. She has received training from master teachers/ performers at The Circus Center (SF), Circus Oz (AUS), and Nimble Arts (VT). She runs Ruby Streak Trapeze Studio in Brooklyn. Sini Anderson is a spoken word artist, and co-founder of the original Sister Spit (SF). She currently lives and works in Brooklyn. Elena Azzoni is a Brooklyn-based artist. In disguise as an accountant by day, she'd rather crunch cookies than numbers. Jordann Baker fell in love with aerial silks in January 2006 and hasn't looked down since. A founder of Aerial Uprising, Jordann brings her extensive visual arts and architecture training into her stage creations. She has performed at the Zipper, STREB, and has been collaborating on a piece that will premier at the Joyce in January 2008. In addition to training and performing, Jordann teaches 10 weekly aerial silks classes in Williamsburg. Arantza Barrios has been enjoying swinging, balancing, fire-spinning, and generally playing around with the circus for over 5 years now. Her love for adventure keeps her moving from country to country and has given her the chance to learn aerial acrobatics at the Circus Space in London and LAVA in New York City before training with Natalie Agee. By becoming a scientist she has also been able to fulfill her other traveling circus fascination: experimenting with mother nature. Marci Blackman is the author of the novel, Po Man's Child, and several other works of fiction. Catherine Bodnar is following her dreams. She's trained lots of trapeze with Natalie Agee. Kiebpoli M. Calnek specializes in Corde Lisse and is a graduate of the School of Performing Arts, a member of the Lincoln Center Directors Lab, and of Actors' Equity Association. She has danced on the ground and in the air at The Kitchen, Judson Church, DTW, LaMama, SLAM at STREB, and Danspace Project. She is thrilled to be one-third of the new aerial performance company: Aerial Uprising with Susie Williams and Jordann Baker. Ana Carolina is kind of tall and she was born in Argentina three decades ago. Entertaining people and making them laugh is something she enjoys very much. She started out as a street performer; circus, improv, acting, puppets, stand up and video editing are big favorites among her past and present activities. Ana lives and works in New York now, she also worked in Argentina, Spain, the UK, and she went to Mexico to work once and ended up going to the beach instead (good times!).She just did her first mask piece ever, Punch and Judy Redux, at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, and she thinks that is a crazy event. She wishes she could sing. She is very happy to be working in collaboration with Mandy Caughey on this naked hands and video piece. Marie Carter is soon to graduate from the Laughing Lotus Yoga School and has been studying trapeze with Natalie Agee for three years. Her book THE TRAPEZE DIARIES is coming out in spring 2008. Mandy Caughey (aka Mee Ae) loves to shoot and edit video. She also enjoys dancing, writing, taking pictures, playing with animals, and observing people. Natalie Denney is a teacher and former molecular biologist who has traveled in 24 countries. She has been studying trapeze for two years. Videos of past trapeze performances can be found at www.nataliedenney.com. Diana Y Greiner first crossed the stage as a 12-foot long red satin snake. Natalie E. Illum is an activist, writer and federal employee. Natalie is a founding board member of mothertongue (www.mothertonguedc.org), a spoken word and creative writing organization in DC for women and girls. She has an MFA in Creative Writing from American University and teaches poetry through a variety of local community venues. She also promotes independent writers, musicians and artists through 3Word Productions (www.3WordProductions.com). Her previous chapbooks Counterbalance and On Writers Block and Acrobats are available on Lulu Press. Her work is also included in Growing Up Girl (GirlChild Press, 2006) and Word Warriors (Seal Press, 2007), an anthology edited by Alix Olson Acoustic Musical Whirlwind Kotorino makes use of wind, wire, and wood drawing from the bones of the past. Lollo Birgitta have been training and performing doubles trapeze together for almost three years. They create stories of love and adventure but not without a sense of humor. And although they separately have other acrobatic and aerial interests, there is nothing they like more than working together and pushing each other's boundaries. In 2004, Jean Loscalzo was inducted by flying monkeys who live on the coasts of Brooklyn. Since then, walking on the ground will never be as exciting as flying on the trapeze. Marina Luna is an aerialist who studied at Canopy Studio in Athens, GA and San Francisco Circus Center before moving to Brattleboro, VT to teach and train with Elsie and Serenity Smith of Nimble Arts and New England Center for Circus Arts. She leads weekly classes at NECCA and teaches workshops all over, including Boston, New York City and Boulder, CO at the annual Aerial Dance Festival. Marina performs on fabrics, lyra, trapeze, rope and the ground. She has collaborated with several others to create duo and trio acts, and is especially good at creating site-specific acts. Marina imparts strength and grace to her pieces, which have showcased in casinos, museums, art galleries, schools and nightclubs. She has just been offered a yearlong contract to perform at Universal Studies in Osaka, Japan. Neal Medlyn, who thinks Natalie Agee is super, will be premiering one of three short shows he made up in their entirety on a recent subway ride. Neal Medlyn is a solo performer whose work has appeared at Joe's Pub, PS122, Ars Nova, Galapagos, and on tour around the country. Notable past efforts include Neal Medlyn's Lionel Richie Opera, and an R. Kelly show with Kenny Mellman of Kiki & Herb. He was recently called "delicious" by the New York Times. NealMedlyn.com Colleen McKeown is a Circus & Burlesque performer & producer based in Santa Fe who has been performing nationally since 2003 from NYC to San Francisco in fine theatres as well as sordid bars. She has performed lyra acts, as well as partner acrobatics & duo trapeze with the likes of Wise Fool Circus, The National tour of the Sex Worker's Art Show, the Paper Doll Militia, at Viva Las Vegas in Nevada & Madame Maraschino's House of Burlesque in San Francisco to name a few. Recent performances include the Femme-O-Lition Derby, Circus Luminous, the New Mexico Burlesque Showcase, & featured on the mainstage at Gay Pride in Albuquerque, NM.Currently Colleen is ecstatic to be training with New England Center for Circus Arts in Vermont in their Professional Track Program. She is also rounding the corner on producing next year's wildly popular Femme-O-Lition Derby, an annual cabaret in Albuquerque & Santa Fe, which features the talents of Queer Femmes. Jennifer Myers has been studying trapeze with Natalie Agee for a long time (she thinks at least 5 years). Aimee Norwich, a composer, musician, producer and instrument designer, is devoted to creating transformative experiences for listeners through employing lyrical melodies and vibrant noise-scapes. Aimee covers a broad range of musical composition while maintaining a characteristic, otherworldly sound. (http://aimeenorwich.com) Jessica Pagan is a showgirl from New Orleans. She is a member of NYC burlesque troupe, The Peach Tartes, and has recently begun training at Ruby Streak. Rebecca Stronger is newly-come-home! Suzanne Rogaleski has been making art in many forms since she was born. In the past 8 years the media has been varied, though a love of rope burn and aerial acrobatics has been sustained through many guises and disguises. I also play the drums. Gretchen Sampsen has an accupunture practice, and is a trapeze student at Ruby Streak. Kay Turner (of "Girls In the Nose", and "Snaggletooth") is a creative tour-de-force of maniacal improv, and fokloric musical magic. Rain Willson is an actor/ singer/ dancer/ aerialist/ circus performer from Santa Fe, NM. She has created and performed in numerous multi-media performance pieces, incorporating aerial dance and circus arts, with High Mayhem (www.highmayhem.org), Wise Fool, NM (www.wisefoolnm.org), The College of Santa Fe, The Exhibition of Immersive Arts festival, and the Annual High Mayhem Emerging Arts Festival. Rain has performed shorter circus / cabaret acts on the double trapeze, fabric, net and in acrobatic pieces in shows such as The Femme-o-lition Derby, Circus Luminous, A Cabaret of Metamorphosis, and BUST. Rain co-produced and performed in Wise Fool, NM's monthly "Raise the Rent Cabarets, " and just recently co-created, performed and produced a full circus/ physical theatre show entitled "Rara Avis" [the rare bird] with the Paper Doll Militia. Rain is currently living in Vermont, and is attending The Nimble Arts Professional Training Circus Program. Susie Williams is a director, actor and aerialist. She is a cofounder of Aerial Uprising, an aerial performance company and was the artistic director of Gypsy Baby, an Austin based theater company. She has performed and directed in Cincinnati, Austin, Houston, London, Beirut, and, of course, in New York. Most recently, she performed aerial work at the Zipper, La Mama ETC, Embody Studios, and STREB. When she is not climbing a rope, she can be found teaching flying trapeze. |
